A Storm, a Same-Day Answer, and a Roof by 2 p.m.

Sarah’s roof story begins the way a lot of Minnesota roof stories begin: with a storm.

A major storm came through Long Lake, and Sarah called us. We got someone out to her house quickly, went up top, and found the damage. That first look is where a project either becomes simple or becomes a headache, and we would rather it be simple.

From there, the honest answer is that Sarah did almost nothing. She connected us with her insurance provider, and we took it the rest of the way — the claim, the permits, the scheduling, the coordination. She answered a couple of phone calls.

Thirty minutes to protect the house, then to work

On install day the crew showed up and spent the first half hour doing the part nobody photographs: tarping the exterior, laying barriers, and covering every flower bed and plant on the property. Then the old roof came off, the new shingles went down, the whole site got cleaned, and the trucks were gone by two in the afternoon.

We care about the landscaping because our customers do. A roof is temporary chaos; a perennial bed someone has been building for years is not something you replace in an afternoon.

“They protected everything. They put barriers over all of my plants and flowers. When they were done, they made sure everything was picked up. So my flower beds remained beautiful and nothing was damaged at all in the process.” — Sarah

The call that came a year later

About a year after the install, Sarah noticed wet spots on her ceiling and called us. We came out the same day. That is not a special favor — water inside a house is the one thing that does not wait, and a roof we put on is a roof we stand behind.

We tested and inspected everything, and here is the thing: it was not the roof. The roof was sound and in great shape. The water was coming from the top of her chimney, where the mortar had deteriorated enough to let it through.

Masonry is outside what we do, but leaving her with a leak and a shrug was never on the table. We tarped the chimney to stop the water that day, then handed her a contact she could call along with photos and clear instructions on exactly what to show them. She did not have to explain a problem she had never seen — she just had to make one phone call.
